Welcome to Cyber Case Files! My name is Chip Thornsburg and I am the CEO of Alamo Cyber Security. In all of my free time I am also a detective with the Helotes Police Department, or maybe it's the other way around. Any-who I thought I might take some time to share stories of past cyber cases worked in a law enforcement capacity and in the private sector. I also intend to share some pointed tips on Cyber Security, how you can help protect yourself and maybe even some comments on the news of the day. Once again WELCOME and I hope you enjoy!
Whats an approachable way to start off in Cyber Security? What are do.e tils to get started? What are some things you know now that you wish you did when you started?
ReplyDeleteThe second question is: whay are some lf the things to do to get started?
DeleteHi Shayne. There are a couple of ways to get a start. Of course, lots of colleges offer computer science degree and some have information security programs. If college is not an option, you can still work on some certifications on your own. CompTIA A+ is a good start then grab a job as IT support.
ReplyDeleteThanks, what Linux distros do you use?
DeleteAlways been a big fan of Offensive-Security product Kali, formerly Backtrack. The pre-made virtual images are easy to load up. http://www.kali.org For forensic work I like CAINE and DEFT depending on my mood :)
